Thank you for considering Sharpshooters and the ARES Training Academy for your firearms training needs. Through our 16 Lane Indoor Range and Certified Training Academy we offer firearms training to the public and security officer training performing in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.
Training provided by our certified NRA Instructors encompasses a varying degree of skill levels. Our classes are done in small groups to better facilitate one-on-one instruction. Students who successfully complete and pass a firearms course provided by the ARES Academy and meet all range firing requirements will be issued a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Training courses offered through Sharpshooters and the ARES Academy meet the state requirements for required training for Virginia resident concealed handgun permit application.

NRA Home Firearms Safety Course
This is a course designed for anyone who intends to have firearm in their home. The Course is an NRA introductory Home Firearms Safety course that covers gun safety, proper handling, maintenance and storage.
Students will receive instruction on various types of firearms; proper loading and unloading, proper storage as well as cleaning procedures.

NRA First Steps Orientation: Pistol
This class length is approximately (4) four hours in length and requires a minimum of (1) one hour actually on the range. The purpose of the NRA First Steps Orientation Pistol course is to familiarize the new handgun owner with pistol operations, handling and safety.
Basic shooting skills, proper grip, shooting positions, and marksmanship are developed and gun safety and handling are emphasized.
The elements and instruction in this course meet the requirements for obtaining a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.
